Cathrine Löfgren
Project manager, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden

Cathrine Löfgren is a project manager at RISE in bioeconomy and health. She has many years of experience working in the packaging industry. The focus has been on projects with packaging development, life cycle assessment, legislation and sustainability work for more circular packaging. Part of her time, Cathrine works in the trade and industry group Miljöpack, which provides support and information to its members about environmentally-related packaging legislation.

Keeping up with the PPWR – the role of standardization

The overall objectives of the revision of EU legislation on Packaging and Packaging Waste are to reduce the adverse negative environmental effects of packaging and packaging waste, while simultaneously improving the functioning of the internal market. Standardization remains a key tool for manufacturers, users, trade, consumers and other societal interests to analyze, ideate and develop solutions that work for all parties involved in the packaging value chain. Åsa Stenmarck
Heading the national plastic coordination, Naturvårdsverket

Åsa has worked in the field of material handling for over 20 years. Since 2018 much of the focus has been on how to create the change to more sustainable plastic use and since 2020 she is responsible for the national plastic coordination hosted by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. Her driving force is the possibility to create change and cooperation between different actors in the value net of plastic.
